Hold Korean equities, long-term accumulation continues.
Korean equities are under short-term supply pressure from foreign program selling and weak retail sentiment, but long-term foreign investors are quietly accumulating under the surface. Lee argues the correct stance is to hold positions rather than panic-sell, because the visible selling is not matched by a fundamental breakdown and long-term accumulation is expanding.
Rate hike is not structural equity bear.
Even if the Fed raises rates, history shows US equities typically fall about 10% before the first hike and 15% around it, but then rally on average 45% afterward. Because a rate hike signals the economy is not weak, investors should not fear rate hikes and should maintain a long equity bias.
Hold Samsung and SK hynix long-term.
Samsung Electronics and SK hynix are being sold by panicked retail investors and passive foreign flows, but long-term foreign buyers are accumulating the same names. Fundamentals and shareholder-return improvements remain acceptable for long-term accumulation. Short-term traders should reduce because the range has narrowed, but long-term holders should hold or add rather than dump.
Rapid won rise hurts small-cap exporters.
The won's rapid appreciation from the 1,500 area to 1,350 is too fast. Large-cap exporters with global production are less exposed, but KOSDAQ small/mid parts and materials companies are vulnerable because a rapid currency decline can hit their operating profits, so investors should exercise caution with that segment.
Favor tech, watch banks for rates.
Traditional rate-based sector formulas have broken recently, so rather than chasing rate beneficiaries mechanically, Lee suggests two-way positioning: if rate-hike fears ease, semiconductors and technology stocks move most; if rate-hike concerns return, banks and insurance can gradually reflect higher rates.
