Judy Shelton Independent Institute Senior Fellow The David Lin Report
Gold-backed Treasury bonds preserve purchasing power.
Shelton proposes a 50-year Treasury trust bond backed by revalued U.S. gold reserves, allowing holders to redeem principal in dollars or a pre-specified amount of gold at maturity. She argues it would let investors preserve purchasing power, pressure fiscal and monetary policy toward stable prices and balanced budgets, and could become a template for gold-redeemable sovereign debt and a new Bretton Woods-like system.
