AIG undervalued with buyback support, initiating long
The author argues AIG is trading at its lowest level since January 2025, a level that was quickly bought up going into the end of January and early February. The dividend yield of 2.4% is a nice hedge, but the real value is the undervaluation of the shares, with about $7 billion in authorized share buybacks remaining and a history of deploying more aggressively when the share price is undervalued. The last two days looked like accumulation, and the author was waiting for the sector to sell to start a position, which happened today.
