USO (or Oil Futures/ETFs) - LONG | confidence: 0.70 | sentiment: +0.70
Speaker: r/stocks community
Thesis:
1. THE FACT: Iran's military has reimposed strict control of the Strait of Hormuz, through which ~20% of global oil trade flows.
2. THE BRIDGE: This action creates an immediate and significant supply disruption risk, threatening global oil flows and likely causing a fear-driven spike in crude oil prices.
3. THE VERDICT: Geopolitical risk premium will be forcibly added to the oil price in the short term, making long oil positions advantageous.
4. RISKS: The conflict may be short-lived if the U.S. political situation (Trump's 60-day window) leads to de-escalation, causing a rapid reversal of the risk premium.
Timeframe: short-term
Key Points:
- Strait of Hormuz blocked/controlled
- Supply shock risk immediate
- Fear premium spikes oil
- Trade is geopolitical, not fundamental
- Watch U.S. political timeline

It's not too much longer before the 60 day limit expires and then he needs congressional approval to continue (which he probably won't get). They would be dumb to make a deal with him right now.
