TICKER - DIRECTION | confidence: 0.70 | sentiment: +0.70

Thesis:
1. THE FACT: Microsoft and OpenAI are ending revenue sharing and restructuring their partnership.
2. THE BRIDGE: This reduces Microsoft’s dependency on OpenAI and allows it to capture more value from its AI investments.
3. THE VERDICT: The restructuring acts as a positive catalyst, reinforcing MSFT’s long-term AI monetization potential.
4. RISKS: New terms could still be unfavorable; AI competitive landscape may shift; valuation already elevated.
Timeframe: medium-term
Key Points:
- Reduced OpenAI dependency risk
- Potential for higher retained AI revenue
- Azure cloud growth remains strong
- Microsoft 365 provides stable cash flow
- Valuation high but may be justified
=== COMMENTS SUMMARY ===
Top comments note that MSFT is frequently discussed on this sub and that most buying interest was at the ~$380 level, not at current higher prices. The community appears skeptical of the timing but offers no strong counter-arguments to the OpenAI restructuring thesis.

I’ve always been a bit reticent about opening a position in Microsoft, mostly due to concerns I had about how entangled with OpenAI it had become. I’ve always liked other parts of the business (Azure, Microsoft 365, etc.) and it’s been on my radar for a bit but that hangup always stopped me from pulling the trigger.
Changed my mind today off the news that they would be stopping revenue sharing with OpenAI as part of a wider set of changes to their partnership and bought 30 shares.
I was if anyone else had similar hesitations about buying MSFT? Or what those of you who were already believers think will come out of this re-imagining of their relationship with OpenAI?
