I guess just a minor rant. I'm not really fully getting into algo-trading or anything, mostly just building out tools that help scan market for the trades I want, track my open positions, keep track of sector exposure and notify me when an option chain has a good edge in an underexposed sector, stuff like that.
I went through the trouble of getting set up with IBKR because they seemed "API friendly", but the hoops are painful. Makes using robin-stocks seem like a beautiful walk in the park in comparison. The weird local api vs web api, the only 1 session requirement, it's all very archaic imo.
The best api I've used so far is Massive/Polygon, but of course they aren't an actual trader so it's only for market scanning (and the real time data is quite expensive).
For programmers out there dabbling in "assisted" trading, any favorites?
