Summary

Charles Edwards lays out a bullish but catalyst-dependent Bitcoin view after the largest crypto short squeeze. He highlights institutional ETF/treasury net buying, key technical levels such as 70K, and the need for US government or Bitcoin Core follow-through to reach new all-time highs. He also discusses Hyperliquid and altcoin recovery while flagging AI and quantum hacking risks in DeFi.

  • Bitcoin's short squeeze follows institutions flipping to net buyers, led by ETFs, now buying more than 150% of daily mined supply.
  • Edwards sees bullish technicals above 70K, with 60-61K as critical support.
  • A durable new all-time high likely requires a catalyst such as US government buying, Treasury action, or a Bitcoin quantum roadmap.
  • Hyperliquid is favored for hard tokenomics, revenue buybacks, growth, and Trump mention.
  • Select altcoins such as Ethereum and Ethena show constructive technical reclaims if Bitcoin holds its trend.
  • AI and quantum hacking risk leads him to avoid broad DeFi staking and bridging.
  • Fed rate expectations and oil/Iran remain macro swing factors.

Institutions buy Bitcoin; bullish above 70K
Institutions have flipped to net buyers of Bitcoin for the first time since May, with ETFs and treasuries buying about 160% of daily mined supply; on-chain data sits in a value zone and hash ribbons recently gave a buy signal. Bitcoin has also broken convincingly above 65K and 71K, flipping the technical bias bullish. As long as monthly price holds above 70K, the bias is bullish into the high five digits.

Hyperliquid tokenomics and revenue drive upside
Hyperliquid has hard tokenomics: controlled supply, no typical VC unlock overhang, and about 99% of revenue used for daily buybacks, which lets it be valued like an equity. It is growing revenue strongly as the only venue so far where US equities can effectively be traded without KYC. Trump mentioning Hyperliquid adds government-support momentum, and the token just staged a technical breakout.

Altcoins recovering if Bitcoin holds uptrend
If Bitcoin's trend continues, the altcoin market should be very positive; several older coins are showing constructive technicals by revisiting major support and reclaiming key levels after large drawdowns. Ethereum, Ethena and Ccash fit that criteria, making a case to hold some altcoins here, though AI and quantum hacking risks temper excitement versus prior cycles.

AI hack risk makes DeFi dangerous
AI-driven and quantum hacking risk is rising and has already wiped out protocols and previously trusted self-custody tools. To reduce the attack frontier, he would avoid heavy involvement in DeFi staking, flipping, multiple chains and bridges over the next few years, preferring larger trusted protocols.
