A new Ethereum Foundation project (DVT-lite) aims to simplify institutional staking, which could lower barriers to entry and increase demand for ETH from large players.
ETH MED Mar 09, 23:15
"My hope for this project is that in the process, we can make it maximally easy and one-click to do distributed staking for institutions."

One important technical item that I forgot to mention is the proposed switch from Casper FFG to Minimmit as the finality gadget. To summarize, Casper FFG provides two-round finality: it requires each attester to sign once to "justify" the block, and then again to "finalize" it. Minimmit only requires one round. In exchange, Minimmit's fault tolerance (in our parametrization) drops to 17%, compared to Casper FFG's 33%. Within Ethereum consensus discussions, I have always been the security assum

The founder of Ethereum is explicitly avoiding new development on current cryptographic standards due to quantum computing risk, which he expects to be a factor in the next 3-8 years.
ETH HIGH Mar 06, 01:58
"The main reason why I find anything elliptic curve uninteresting in 2026 pretty much is quantum risk."

@baseddesigner @dcposch That's something kohaku is doing, turning railgun and other privacy protocols (and more) into an easy-to-use self-contained sdk (last year the target user was browser wallets, now we have to make it work for agents too😄)

yeah I agree fully that it makes sense for mainstream-focused payment apps / wallets / agent things to integrate with tradfi so people can deposit and withdraw The main path dependence I want us to shake off is path dependence on the ethereum application / wallet ecosystem's own history. random example: if you're just making a payment app explore things like not even having 0x addresses (except maybe one-time addrs for deposits, and of course being able to withdraw to other people's addrs) and

I think it's healthy for us in the Ethereum world to have a more bold and open mindset to many things, particularly on the application layer and on how we see ourselves in the world. We should not compromise on core properties: censorship resistance, open source, privacy, security (CROPS). We should not have "open mindedness" of the type that leaves people with no confidence of what security properties the L1 will still have one year from now. We should not ask ourselves questions like "do we r

The author argues that the real-world risk from AI comes from closed-source government tools like Palantir, not open-source models, implying higher regulatory or reputational risk for the company.

The founder is outlining a key future upgrade that he believes will be "super-valuable" by significantly increasing network performance and capabilities, which is a fundamental long-term bullish catalyst for the asset.

AI's rapidly accelerating ability to write complex code will significantly speed up Ethereum's development roadmap, acting as a long-term fundamental tailwind.

"I expect that we'll reduce slot time in an incremental fashion, eg. I like the 'sqrt(2) at a time' formula (12 -> 8 -> 6 -> 4 -> 3 -> 2, though the last two steps are more speculative and depend on heavy research)."

1. THE FACT: Vitalik declares 2026 as the year to reclaim self-sovereignty and trustlessness, specifically mentioning that "thanks to ZK-EVM and BAL, it will once again become easier to locally run a node and verify the Ethereum chain on your own computer." 2. THE BRIDGE: Easier node operation increases decentralization and user empowerment, which are core tenets of Ethereum's value proposition. This enhanced accessibility and verification capability strengthens the network's security and resilience, making ETH more attractive. 3. THE VERDICT: Bullish on ETH as ZK-EVM and BAL make running a full node easier, enhancing decentralization and self-sovereignty.
